School Uniform Expectations

Statement

The Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Hilton uniform helps our students identify with their school and develop a sense of pride and belonging to their school community.

Parents enrolling their children at Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Hilton are required to fully support the school in ensuring the uniform students wear is correct and of the highest standards.

Students should be in uniforms that fit properly and are neat, clean and in good repair.

Uniform Transition

Our Lady of Mount Carmel School, Hilton undertook a review of the school uniform in 2021 with the aim of simplifying the school uniform as well as ensuring that students in junior primary have a uniform that allows greater freedom of movement. This review resulted in a new uniform for students in Four-Year-Old Kindergarten through to Year Three and a new sports uniform for all students. Students in Years Four to Six will continue to wear the formal uniform three days per week.

Detailed on the following pages are the uniform requirements for Four-Year-Old Kindergarten, Pre-Primary to Year Three, and Year Four to Year Six.

General Expectations

School shoes

Black School Shoes is the type of shoes that is similar to the type manufactured by Clarks, Airflex etc. Suede or canvas type shoes are not classified as School Shoes and are not permitted. Brown sandals may be worn in Summer.

School Socks

Only the OLMC School socks are to be worn with the uniform. There is only one type of sock for all styles of uniform.

Faction Hat

Our school follows the “No Hat, No Sun” policy where the school hat must be worn all year-round during recess, lunch time and outdoor activities.

Jewellery

Only sleepers or studs for pierced ears. Expensive jewellery should not be worn to school. One gold or silver chain with a religious symbol may be worn around the neck under the dress or collar. A wristwatch can be worn. No other jewellery is allowed.

Hair

Hair needs to be tidy and tied back if it reaches the collar. Only navy blue or faction colour hair accessories may be worn. Fad haircuts such as Zig-Zag stripes, shaved patches or patterns are not allowed. Hair should be natural colour.

Make-Up

No nail polish or make up may be worn during school hours.

Uniform orders need to be placed before 9am on Tuesdays to be delivered on Wednesday.  Uniform orders of the wrong size can be brought into the office for exchange as long as the items are unworn and tags attached.
